How to Find the Difference Between Two Texts

A diff checker compares two versions of a text and highlights exactly what changed. Use it to proofread edits, compare contract or essay drafts, check two lists, or review changes in notes and code.

  1. 01

    Paste or Upload Both Versions

Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right, or upload a file (.txt, .md, .docx, .pdf and common code files) into either side.

  2. 02

    Read the Highlighted Differences

Added lines are highlighted in green and removed lines in red, with the changed words inside a line marked too. Switch between side-by-side and inline views, or swap the two sides.

  3. 03

Ignore Changes That Do Not Matter

Turn on Ignore Whitespace or Ignore Case to hide differences in spacing or capital letters, so only real wording changes are shown.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the difference between two texts?

Paste the first text on the left and the second text on the right. The diff checker highlights added, removed and changed lines and words straight away.

Is this diff checker free?

Is my text uploaded when I compare?

No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser, so your text never leaves your device. Only the optional AI change explanation sends the differences to Google Gemini.
