How the proforma invoice generator works
A proforma invoice tells the customer what they will be billed before anything is supplied. Fill in the items and terms, add your bank details if you want an advance, and download it.
- 01
Enter the order
Add your business, the customer and the items with their rates and tax. Every page says "This is not a tax invoice.", because a proforma does not record a supply and the buyer cannot claim input tax credit on it.
- 02
Add payment details
Add bank details or a UPI ID and the QR code asks for the full amount, or for what is left after an advance you enter as already paid.
- 03
Convert when the order moves on
When the customer pays an advance, make a GST receipt voucher from the proforma. When you supply, make the tax invoice. Nothing is retyped.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about this tool.
What is the difference between a proforma and a quotation?
A quotation offers prices. A proforma is sent once the customer has agreed, usually to ask for an advance or to arrange import paperwork. Both are not tax invoices.
Can I convert it to a tax invoice?
Yes. Open the menu and choose "Make a tax invoice from this". The new invoice gets its own number and today's date, with the proforma number as its reference.
Is anything I type uploaded?
No. The form, the preview and the PDF are all made in your browser. Drafts are kept on your device only, so you can pick up where you left off, and you can delete them from the menu at any time.
